I've been on a custard kick, I'm going to try this! debbie 40 cd I made Amelia's idea for steamed custard and it was heavenly!!!For people who eat desserts every day may not be so impressive but I was desperate for sweets other then banana and it fulfilled my hopes and dreams LOL Basically I did that:2 eggs beaten till frothy3-4 TBS coconut milkhoney (I used 1 tsp but it wasn't very sweet)vanilla1 tsp coconut flourBeat all the ingredients and pour in a coffee 2 cups. Put in a small pot with simmering water (with lid) and after 1/2 hour you'll have something close to creme caramel.Next time I'll put some berries or cooked apples inside. And it could be made savory by adding grated cheese and spices. Guest guest
Here's a more complete custard recipe, fur use with a stove, from Ramacher. You don't have to stick withpeaches. It;s really good: Peach CustardServes 4500 ml (2 cups) Coconut Milk5 eggs – whisked100 g (¹â„³ cup) honey1 tsp vanilla essence200 g (1 cup) peaches – peeled and slicedPre-heat oven to 150ºC/302 F – baking time 45 minuteCombine the coconut milk, eggs, honey and vanilla essence in a medium size pot and heat, whisking constantly. Do not boil. Cook for 1 minute, then remove from heat and pour into 4 ramekins. Evenly distribute the sliced peaches amongst the ramekins. Place the ramekins in a heatproof dish filled with water, reaching half way up the remekins. Bake in the oven for 45 minutes or until the tops start to feel firm. Remove from the oven and place the custards into the refrigerator for at least 3 hours before serving.Serve decorated with strawberries or some extra peach slices.Happy Cooking, RamacherThanks for posting this.
