Guest guest
Hiya everyone, just my 5 cents worth. I have read a lot of posts from people who are unhappy with the results of their surgery and from all of them them there is one common thread - they are looking at the results and making a judgement only two or three days after surgery. I think we all scutinize the " new me " and in some way or another are dissapointed with the results (my top lip is too big, my nose is too big, I have assymetry, my face looks puffy, yadda yadda yadda, lol) but as the days go by I think we get more accustomed to the " new me " I lived with the old me for 43 years and was never happy with what I saw in the mirror, so I think the the operation is a little like hanging new wall paper, it doesnt matter what the new wall paper looks like - it will always be better than the old wall paper even if it does have imperfections because its fresh, new and sitting in the right place, it simply cant be worse. For me just the chance to spend the next 43 years looking normal is a godsend. The fact that people wont be looking at my mouth when I talk to them wondering " what is odd about this guy? " will give me so much more confidence. Hey, Brad Pitt, Clooney I was never gonna look like, but to smile with confidence is just the ticket (if this numbness ever wears off and I actually get to smile, lol). BTW I posted a before and after pic under " phil " Have a great day everyone Phil > > > > You may not notice face imperfections, but all those imperfections > > add to less attractive face... > > > > next time you look at an average looking face ask yourself why they > > are just average looking ...it's because of how each facial part is > > positioned and proportioned... we may not notice the asymmetry or > > proportions, but we'll just say they are not that good looking... > > > > conclusion: asymmetry (among other things) will make you less > > attractive, if everything else is held equal... > > > > I'm glad that my bite has been corrected and i don't feel self- > > conscious about my profile; however, I'm not happy about the > > asymmetry that's resulted from the surgery... Guest guest
Phil, did you have lower jaw brought back? You look darned good for 3 days post. most of us don't/didn't look that good! I hear you on your message, but although there is some/much(have not decided) that i like about the surgery, the off center chin is REAL obvious. Please take a look at my pix, you will see what i am talking about. Truly it is if i am self conscious about a new thing and no longer the old. Self conscious about the asymmetric chin and not the gummy smile and no chin. Good analogy with that wallpaper! > > > > > > You may not notice face imperfections, but all those > imperfections > > > add to less attractive face... > > > > > > next time you look at an average looking face ask yourself why > they > > > are just average looking ...it's because of how each facial part > is > > > positioned and proportioned... we may not notice the asymmetry or > > > proportions, but we'll just say they are not that good looking... > > > > > > conclusion: asymmetry (among other things) will make you less > > > attractive, if everything else is held equal... > > > > > > I'm glad that my bite has been corrected and i don't feel self- > > > conscious about my profile; however, I'm not happy about the > > > asymmetry that's resulted from the surgery... Guest guest
Hi , Yes, I can see what you're talking about with your chin. How did it happen though? What did they do to your lower jaw? > > > > > > > > You may not notice face imperfections, but all those > > imperfections > > > > add to less attractive face... > > > > > > > > next time you look at an average looking face ask yourself why > > they > > > > are just average looking ...it's because of how each facial > part > > is > > > > positioned and proportioned... we may not notice the asymmetry > or > > > > proportions, but we'll just say they are not that good > looking... > > > > > > > > conclusion: asymmetry (among other things) will make you less > > > > attractive, if everything else is held equal... > > > > > > > > I'm glad that my bite has been corrected and i don't feel self- > > > > conscious about my profile; however, I'm not happy about the > > > > asymmetry that's resulted from the surgery... Guest guest
Turns out i was asymmetrical before surgery and no one caught it as the other issues (gummy smile, no chin) were SOOOO obvious. Get this, they are shifting all of my teeth to the left, and they are thinking of putting in a chin implant to the side that needs to be filled out. I am getting a second opinion in two weeks. I look back at old pictures and sure enough, i was off center, but because i had barely any chin it was not obvious. I think my post surg look is much worse than Dan's. > > > > > > > > > > You may not notice face imperfections, but all those > > > imperfections > > > > > add to less attractive face... > > > > > > > > > > next time you look at an average looking face ask yourself why > > > they > > > > > are just average looking ...it's because of how each facial > > part > > > is > > > > > positioned and proportioned... we may not notice the asymmetry > > or > > > > > proportions, but we'll just say they are not that good > > looking... > > > > > > > > > > conclusion: asymmetry (among other things) will make you less > > > > > attractive, if everything else is held equal... > > > > > > > > > > I'm glad that my bite has been corrected and i don't feel self- > > > > > conscious about my profile; however, I'm not happy about the > > > > > asymmetry that's resulted from the surgery... Guest guest
Ouch... they should have caught it, other problems or not. I know with me my OS checked the midpoint of my lower teeth with midpoint of my chin, and the midpoints coincided, which meant no genio for me. They definitely should have been more thorough - they have to know these problems come up! > > > > Hi , > > > > Yes, I can see what you're talking about with your chin.
