Hello & welcome to the group. docband & hanger can both be effective.

A lot depends on the person using the band. Hanger orthos may do many

types of orthotic devices, and will have varying degrees of experience

with banding. With an experienced ortho the results can be good. The

docband is provided by cranial tech, and they do only banding, so

their staff is generally very well trained, and most people are very

happy with CT.

The docband is also lighter weight than the hanger band (usually about

6 oz vs 9 oz) and covers less of the head. You may want to tell the

group which hanger facility you are considering and get some feedback

that way.

hi,

i agree with christine, it seems that both bands can be effective. we

use a hanger band and have seen some good progress so far. our ortho

has been banding for many years, so we were confident when we selected

hanger (though CT isn't in our area so that was not an option for us

anyway. we are in portland oregon). some other mom's from NY have not

had very positive reviews of hanger in long island, so maybe you should

list where you are from and that will narrow down the office selection,

which does seem to make a difference.

good luck!

Hi ,We took my grandson to CT at the Oakbrook Terrace location and were very happy. I have also heard good comments about the CT location in the North Chicago suburbs. Don't know anything about Hanger around Chicago.
