Guest guest
Hi y'all... So, it's official. They are coming out...my screws and plates from my upper jaw surgery (not my chin from genio). Seems that this was a possibility all along...back a few weeks after I went bk to work (I went back in 3 wks, and this was about 5wks when it started)...I was getting sharp shooting pains that would come and go... Went to my OS, he said SLOW DOWN!, try part time (not possible with this position) or if not, working from home a few days per week...or else I may due myself a disservice and may need surgery to remove the screws... I recall discussing this w/some of you...the irony of being a Recruiter and hearing the things from MY employer this time, rather than through a job-searching candidate...long/short-part time was a total no, and working from home so I talked less? I was told and I quote... " i don't see how you will talk less from home, that's not going to work...just focus your talking more while here... " and was handed work. I just tried to keep the job (bec I need the income), start looking gently while taking care of ME! Well, tried and my xray showed, one or more have pulled out...and they have to come out. Pain is extreme some times...but not always. Have to wait until after my annual work conference (may need the connections) so got 4 wks to go for schedules to meet up. I hope the pain won't get worse...any suggestions? and how long did all of you need to recouperate from this? I was told out-patient and then home like 1-2 days...but I need to be sure bec this actually may result in me losing my job (6 yrs + here, I have the time, but the attitude from the partners tells another story...the heck with legalities, I know all that but reality comes first, I can sue later if I had to. *is this a 9 out of 10 people get them out kinda thing? I know a few people have...so do most? THANKS!!! JO
Guest guest
How many weeks post op are you? I remember your posts talking about being so busy at work and to slow down, etc. I am 8 weeks post op today (upper, lower, genio). Was just wondering up till what point can the plates and screws come loose, thought after so many weeks it would like grow into or over your new bone or something. Sorry to hear you have to have another surgery. Hope all goes well. > > Hi y'all... > > So, it's official. Guest guest
Hi Jo, I'm really so sorry to hear that you have to leave your job. That's a lot to take after all that you've been through. I hope you find something less stressful next go-round. You might want to talk to shiloh on site 2 - she's had plates & screws removed, I think, and from what I've gathered here and there, it's not a big deal, nothing like the original surgery. But I'm not an expert on this, I still have all of my plates, screws & wires, and I'm planning on hanging on to them forever! Hang in there, it may be tough for the next few weeks both at work and in the pain dept, but at least you know the end is in sight. Good luck with your job hunting - being an HR person, you probably don't need my advice on how to leave your present employer on good terms and with good references, but that's what I hope for you. > > Hi y'all... > > So, it's official.
