To Band or Not to Band?

I am very new to all this. My son is 8 1/2 months and we just took him to get

evaluated for a DOC Band. We are deciding whether or not to band him for a flat

spot on the left side of his head. It seems I am the only person who notices it

since he has a lot of hair to cover it up. His vault asymmetry is 7mm and the

other asymmetries are 3mm. Does anyone know what normal limits are. What are

some mild to moderate asymmetries that have been banded at his late age with

success and what was the treatment time frame?

Thanks

0-3 mm is normal

<6 mm is very mild

6-10 mm is mild

10-15 mm is moderate

15+ mm is severe

So, your son falls in the mild category. Did CT recommend getting a band?

There have been a couple of people in the group that have banded at 7 mm;

there have also been people who have finished the band at 7 mm and chose not

to pursue a second band. At 8 1/2 months old you should see good results if

you do decide to band. The DOC band is only good for 16 weeks so you

wouldn't be in it any longer than that.
