I had surgery to rotate my lower jaw and upper to move

my teeth forward in April 2003. I check the forum

every once in a while and I pay particular attention

to people asking about numbness.

After almost 2 years, I still have numbness or what I

like to refer to as " altered senstation. " There is a

spot in the right side of my mouth. A small spot right

at the corner. I also have some altered sensation in

my upper gums. I also have most of my lower chin in

this status as well.

Let me first say, I am not happy with it but I have

learned to live with it, even if it never goes away. I

can still feel things like when shaving, I can feel

the shaver pulling at the stubble as it cuts. I can

still feel items like pain when getting my teeth deep

cleaned and when I floss deeply.

It only bothers me when I think about like as I write

this and take inventory. Other than that, I don't pay

much attention to it. It doesn't prevent me from

smiling or much else. I still feel when I kiss my

girls goodnight or my wife.

Overall, it is not the worst thing. My smile is better

since surgery. I always had a crooked smile in

pictures do to my crossbite. Plus now I can chew

easily with both sides of my back teeth.
