Guest guest
I am 7 weeks post op from lower advancement and have noticed some of the same things you have described. Itching that you cant scratch, most of all a burning sensation in my lower lip. feels liked they are chapped or something. Lately I have noticed that when I touch the area in my lip and chin that i feel stuff going on in there. It is like little needles all over but when I touch the area I cant feel anything. I have noticed that the left side of my lip is beginning to have sensation to touch but the right side is still numb. It feels weird to talk because my lip area feels tight and I cant tell if it is moving properly when I talk. I would have to say that there has been improvement since day one but I have not noticed improvement over the last week or so. I guess it will just take time. I wonder if all of these things are signs that the sensation will eventually come back?? Is this similar to what you are feeling?? ceast36532 <no_reply > wrote: Lots of folks. It can be " the itch that can't be scratched. " It can be a kind of sharp, stabbing pain. It can be a kind of burning. Usually it means that the nerves are trying to regenerate or reconnect. A few folks do have permanent numbness, most to a smaller degree than larger, but a few almost complete. Your doc's advice is sound, from what I've read on these boards. For some folks, it's actually taken more than a year to regain sensation. > > Hi all, > > I'd like to ask those who have had surgery behind them for a year or > more, is the numbness permanent?
