Guest guest
Well, I had a banner day today. Usually I am very good about what I eat, but today? Forget it. I started out well, shake for breakfast then one right before I left for work around 1:00. Then, to waste time I went to a drug store and was going to check out their sugar free selection. Well, downhill from there. I spotted a mint dream candy marshmallow puff thing, looked sooo good, in the Stover section, (NOT sugar free.) So, I got it, along with sugar free pecan delights. Then I ate the whole thing plus an hour later had a chewy trail mix bar (Nature Valley.) that has 12g of sugar. Tonight for supper I had sushi, spicy tuna roll and california roll (though I didn't eat them all.) Now the mint puff thing was delish, but I did get light-headed and sleepy. But from that point on I was hungry, physically hungry all afternoon. By 5 pm or later I actually started having a low blood sugar attack and had to eat some almonds and a few Triscuits to get my blood sugar back up. I have had the trail mix bars before and never had this reaction. I am not a hypoglycemic or a diabetic so this is strange to me. I usually am regular as can be and this makes the third occasion of low blood sugar I have had in the last year. It wasn't as if I wasn't getting enough to eat or overexerted myself. Anyone else experience this? M BTW, I finally got to 130lbs down.
Guest guest
, It is a misconception that only diabetics and those with hypoclycemia have this kind of reaction. Everyone's blood sugar really works the same way in that sugar increases the insulin level and then it drops off. The big difference, if I understand it correctly, is how quickly or slowly your system takes care of it or how will your insulin works. I guess what I am trying to say is that if you eat to much sugar your sugar level is going to spike and then plummet. It sounds like you just had to much sugar to close together. It happens to the best of us. I would recommend not beating yourself up about it just remember this the next time you want that much sugar.
