I think, but don't know, that the problem with having a cold is more

of lowered resistance, an infection present in your system and issues

of health, than of being stuffed up. (If you're having upper, unless

you're REALLY fortunate, you're probably gonna be stuffed up. Sorry.)

Wash your hands a lot. Have your dad do so, too. Try not to get

exposed to it, and be very, very careful.

And yes, I do believe I remember hearing of someone who had surgery

cancelled because of some sort of URI. You don't want to be fighting

that at the same time you're asking your body to do all this healing

work.

Hi Pamela,

You're the first in our March group to be going! You will be fine-

don't worry about the cold, just get plenty of rest, lots of fluids,

mentally decide you won't get sick!, and wash your hands!! :) That's

what I'm doing now... I'm up next thursday and it dawned on me today

that the pressure is on now to stay healthy! :) I work at an animal

hospital, so thank goodness cat/dog illnesses aren't, for the most

part, contractable by humans! I am in upstate NY and can commiserate

about the weather. I'm wondering what I'll be waking up to tomorrow

morning. Probably, just make sure your parents know how to drive in

snow... since that's the biggest potential for calamity. They will be

fine and you're dad will be fine too... invest in lysol and have your

mom spray him down now and then to get him good and disinfected. :)

I feel your anxiety right along with you, but you will do great!!

Good luck and keep us all posted. :) Katja
