I wonder if I'm just trying to follow it so that I feel like I have some control over my disease. Can I get some feedback from people with IBD? Do you think that SCD only works for those people with mild IBD? Amber, The lady who was my mentor in the diet was told, when she was diagnosed with Crohn's, that her gut looked like bloody lace. 14 months of fanatical adherence to SCD later, her doctor said that if he had not diagnosed her himself, he would not have believed she was the same patient. Because her gut was healed. As you're aware, the objective of SCD is to starve out the bad bacteria. You began starving the bad bacteria out. The weakest sisters among them died. The stronger ones survived. Then you fell off the wagon -- and fed those stronger bacteria so that they reproduced. Now you have to try to starve them out, and it will be even more difficult. Everyone makes mistakes and goes back to square zero. Healing is not accomplished in a linear fashion -- it's two steps forward and one step back, or three steps forward and two steps back. It may feel as if you are getting nowhere. Healing is never easy. But not healing is worse by far. That you need medication does not mean SCD does not work. Many people need medication for some time. It's no crime to use medication when you need it. Your healing has just begun. — Marilyn New Orleans, Louisiana, USA Undiagnosed IBS since 1976, SCD since 2001 Darn Good SCD Cook No Human Children Shadow & Sunny Longhair Dachshund
