Guest guest
Hi I told pretty much everyone on campus it seems haha. I talked to the academic counsellor at my school in advance to see what she recommended. In the end, I told all my professors, and told them I would probably not be able to hand in assignments in the two weeks after surgery. I also asked them what they expected of me, and what they would do in terms of missed assignments or tests (I got to miss some assignments in one class, whereas another professor asked me to hand them in late. Also I wrote a 'special' test in one of my classes because I'd missed so much material). I also got a letter from my surgeon stating how long he expected me to need to recover, and went to the Dean's office for my faculty with it. That way, if I have any major problems in my courses and needed to appeal a mark or something they'll have a record of my surgery. Finally, just because I'm in a very small department (probably only 60 students in it) I met with my department head. Because it's a small department he knows me well and wanted to go out of his way to make it as easy as possible for me. Personally, I think the more people you tell at your university the more help and understanding you'll get in the aftermath of surgery, but that's of course your decision to make Mind you, people got so helpful that it seems I can't go to school anymore without someone suggesting a " great new recipe " I should try (most don't sound good at all!) lol Let me know if you have any other questions! - > > > > > > Hi, I am getting surgery sometime this year (at long last), and I > > was > > > wondering how much time I would probally have to take off > > university? > > > I have read in leafflets that you should take off at least a week, > > but > > > I was wondering how much time others have taken off, particuarlly > > > after a LeFort 1, and genioplasty?
