Guest guest
Hi again ,hav'nt posted in a few weeks ,cause I was starting to feel like a whiner... I am at week 7 ,Jaw back 6 mm and geino...... I was amazed after the surgery how he had moved my teeth back, I all of a sudden had healthy overbite......he unwired me at 10 days,...and within a week or so I was in disbelief as i was witnessing my teeth moving back to where they were and shifting to the right 3 mm...when I saw the OS again he said it was probably because the muscles were confused,....and the sooner the Ortho got going the better , I put it to rest and stopped worring about it untill that Appt. which was yesterday.....He obviously new all about it because he brought it up instantly....He was not Happy with what he saw ,calling it a relapse....He was trying to think up with a bandaid solution to try to avoid me going through surgery again....I told Him I did not go through all that for nothing and if it has to be redone then thats what has to happen!! He was to talk to the OS yesterday afternoon ,I hav'nt heard anything yet..... Has Anyone out there had to go through a failed surgery and have to have it Redone?? How soon after can they reoperate on a fresh wound? I'm saying While I'm still hurt'n ,go ahead and hurt me some more and we will just call it part of my recovery......I Just cannot understand ,how on earth could it move with 3 plates 14 screws and 2 wires holding it together...... Guest guest
So sorry to hear all that, Bob. Sadly, yes, it can happen. My surgeon told me never to underestimate the power of those big jaw muscles. But I'm not second-guessing your professionals. All i can say is that it can happen, and I'm so sorry that it did. Some people have had surgery again almost immediately, before the bones healed. Others have had it much later. In part, I think, it depends on when the relapse happens or is discovered. It doesn't happen many times -- but that doesn't offer any consolation when it happens to you! Hang tough in there. You did it once; you can do it again!
