Guest guest
Hi, I read today you were going in to have your bottom braces put on and that you were excited. How did it go? I am going to have my top ones put on. I would have had both put on tomorrow but unfortunately the tooth they extracted last Thursday liked its place too much and it took us 1,5 hrs to get it out. It is ok now and healing but my bone and joint is very painful even a little bruised. (am afraid I am going to swell and bruise real badly after surgery as I have a tendency for bruises). Last week I was totally stressed out about braces but now I just can't wait to get these spacers out. I think I'll have the bottom braces on next week. I just wish I didn't have to deal with a healing extraction - eating is difficult without worrying about eating only on one side. (I already know what it will feel like to blend everything - I am already doing it.) I hope you are doing well and were able to eat since then. Guest guest
Hi Karola! Ugh, sorry to hear about your extraction ordeal. I didn't have to have any teeth pulled this time around, but I had 6 pulled before I got braces the first time, so I've been there...just never had a procedure that lasted so long. Hopefully the bruising and swelling won't last too long for you. But I know what you mean about swelling and bruising after surgery...I get bruises from just using the vacuum...I can't imagine what surgery will do to me. Oh, and I remember the pain of spacers all too clearly. Don't worry, I think the braces are better overall. You'll have occasional pain, but I remember that being one of the worst parts the first time around. (They didn't put any spacers on me this time because I got all normal brackets; no molar brackets on the back teeth this time.) So far so good with my braces though. If I wasn't attempting to chew a piece of gum at the moment (sugar free, of course!) my mouth would feel fine. But I've bitten the inside of my cheek four times in the last ten minutes, hehe. The worst part is when your brackets rub the inside of your cheek, you can get mouth ulcers (or cankers, or whatever you call them.) But the wax they give you helps with that a lot. Since I've had braces before, it's not a toally new thing, but that was 15 years ago, so it is weird to feel it again. My bottom lip feels a bit like it's sticking out, and I've realized that I've been sitting here rubbing my tongue over the brackets and wires subconsciously. They didn't put a tight wire on though, so I'm feeling very little pressure at all. I actually wish they had put a tighter one on so I'd feel like something was happening with my teeth, hehe. Thanks for cheking in on me! Let me know how it goes with your braces. Have you had them before? It will take a few days to get used to, whether you've had them before or not, but once you're accustomed to them, it'll be second nature and you probably won't think much about them at all. And then before you know it, they'll be taking them off and you'll spend weeks running your tongue over your straight, non-braced teeth, hehe. I think I'll put a countdown on my calendar so I can count down to surgery and celebrate my progress as I go along! Take care! > > Hi, > I read today you were going in to have your bottom braces put on and > that you were excited. How did it go? > I am going to have my top ones put on.
