Adjusting to Helmet - Does it get any easier?

Hello,

My son just received his STARband last Monday. He's completed the weaning

schedule and has been wearing the helmet full time (23 hours) for 2 days now.

The last two days have been pretty brutal. He's usually a happy go lucky baby,

but since the helmet has been on a short fuse and pretty fussy. Overall I think

it's adjusting fairly well considering the circumstances. We haven't had to

take it off completely during night time sleep, but he's still waking up every

2-3 hours (usually wakes up only 1x per night). I wanted to ask two questions:

1. How long did it take your baby to get use to the helmet? Will they ever

adjust to the helmet enough to regain their old personality (while still in the

helmet)? Or, will we have to wait until he graduates from the helmet until our

little guy is completely happy again?

2. Also how do you place your baby in his/her crib with the helmet? It seems

like it hurts my son more when I lay him flat on his back with now blankets or

cushioning. Does anybody have any tips on how to make them more comfortable at

night?

Thanks,

Cale – 4 months old (STARband since 6/1/09)
