Guest guest
Hi Bette, I am afraid I have no advice, but lots of sympathy for your toilet training situation. We had a devil of a time training Graham (7 yrs, probable Asperger's syndrome)--I look back on it now and wonder still how we got him convinced to use the toilet. We had exactly the same scenario; he would use the toilet to urinate, but would not poop in the toilet. He held it for days and days, got constipated...what a nightmare. He finally acquiesced and he's been fine ever since, but it was a living h*** at the time. Part of the reason I share the story is that when we were going through it, no one I knew had a similar problem. Since I have been on a number of different autism related sites, I was astounded at how many people had gone through virtually the exact difficulties we had. I felt so much better just hearing it. So, just don't feel alone. I give no advice, because we botched it so badly, and I'm still not sure what finally convinced Graham to use the toilet. Good luck and welcome to the group! Fondly, J
