Yes, my insurance covered it because keloids can tear, bleed, infect, so it's not cosmetic > ditto on the " Them " . between the rny, adhesions twice, etc. etc. I've had the same incision used at least 5 times. after last years surgery my scar opened after the staples were removed and healed very Wide plus a small section of it keloided. Insurance covered a scar revision this year. it is considered 'surface' work but still extensive. the entire length of my scar from breast bone to pubic was cut out and stitched shut this time. all the other times it was staples. the thing I find odd with this being stitched is that its bumpy and lumpy underneither until the stitches finish dissolving. I just had this done less than a month ago and I was told 3mo. for the stitches to dissolve. we'll see. as for 'tightness', I have had my massage therapist work on the scar in the past and it makes a tremendous difference in the flexibility and such of the scar area. many times its too tight for me to lay flat on my stomach but after she would massage the scar and break down surface adhesions underneath it would be so much better. sue
