Guest guest
My Mom just recently had surgery and received one of those plastic breathing things (I can't remember the name). She gave it to me to practice with. How exactly does one use this? Is the point to see how much you can breathe IN or to try to breathe really hard into it and blow? I'm confused and I'm afraid the directions are not too clear. Carole
Guest guest
You blow...and try to get the little balls or the indicator up as high as you can...usually over 3500 cc's as I recall. Guest guest
No, no, no!!! ...you suck.. seriously. The goal is to INHALE as long as you can & as deep as you can.. you can blow all day & that <expletive> ball won't move... If you work with it consistently, it will help you recover more quickly from the effects of the anesthesia as well as reinflate the lungs, preventing postop pneumonia.
