Guest guest
Hi all - My name is Anne, I'm 28 (at least for a few more weeks), and am slated to have jaw surgery this summer. I've been reading the posts on this board for a while now, but thought I'd join in now that my surgery date is getting closer. I don't have a specific date yet, but they're guessing the end of summer. I had 4 extractions done in December, right after we got word that the insurance would approve the surgery (lower advancement) so there's no going back now. I have a whole mess of things going on in my mouth that I never knew but am now ridiculously aware of! Most noticeably is probably the overbite, but also all of my teeth on the right side of my mouth don't line up, but they do on my left (or something like that). I do have a weak chin, but I never really noticed it before, so I don't think it's that significant. I'll be curious to see if there's any cosmetic improvement - my ortho keeps telling me that I'm going to look great, so I wonder if that means I look slightly substandard at the moment. :-p I've been in braces for a year and a half - two years in August. I'm tentatively supposed to get them taken out next February, but we'll see. I'm excited to get this show on the road but nervous at the same time. I'm not the happiest person when I'm hungry so I have my husband and s'kids a little worried. I'm also tired of putting off trying to have a baby - once this surgery is over and I'm healed I won't have any more reasons to wait. I think that in and of itself is the main reason I just can't wait to get it over with - I want to get on with my life! I've learned a lot from this site so I thought it was time to contribute and thank everyone for their candid and informative posts. Guest guest
Hello, I am also new to this group. I don't have a date set for surgery yet, but will likely be having it this summer also. That is the OS estimate anyways. I have been in braces for a little over a year. The plan as of right now is to move the top jaw up and back a little and the bottom out. The chin may also need to be moved, but he says he decides that in surgery after the jaws are in proper position. I don't know how prepared I really am for this, but this site has been a big help for information. I am also waiting on the insurance preapproval now. I already had approval but my job switched insurance this year and I had to start over. Hopefully it will go through. Anyways, I just wanted to introduce myself and I will keep reading here as I go through the whole process!
