Guest guest
Hi , I have had IBS for at least 30 years and maybe longer; disabling for this period, anyhow. I've been on SCD since last July. From my experience and what I've read here, I think we with IBS can have a somewhat easier time with the diet. Not necessarily at first, but seems like the progression can be quicker. Yes, it's boring at first. This hasn't bothered me because boring doesn't begin to describe my diet the last 28 years! As one example of my SCD diet, I have had absolutely no trouble with fresh fruits or veggies, the ones I can eat at a given time, that is, and I suspect one reason is that bleeding is not one of my problems. I'm not saying everyone with IBS will find this to be true but it has been for me. On the other hand, I still don't dare try dairy. But recently I started cautiously trying eggs. DH looked incredulous and asked how long it had been since I had an egg and I thought about it and said, " at least 26 years! " And oh, do they taste good! Anyhow, back to your actual question. You will still need to do the Intro for a couple of days, but I suspect you may find you can add foods quicker than some. Of course, use common sense: if you have a problem, cut it back out and try again later. It can be an on-going puzzle to figure out when you can add things successfully. > Is the diet protocol is any different for people with IBS vs. something more serious like Crohn's Disease or Ulcerative Colitis? I've read a couple posts that seem to suggest this.
