Guest guest
Our paediatrician referred us to a plastic surgeon for an evaluation of my son's flat head. Other people see a neurologist for an evaluation but they usually are not as band friendly. You can also take your daughter directly to a band provider for an evaluation. Once you have the evaluation done you can take the results back to your doctor to ask for the prescription; sometimes seeing the evaluation results on paper is enough to convince them to write the prescription. I'm not sure where you are located, but you can check the following websites to see if there is a band provider near you: Cranial Technologies - DOCband provider http://www.cranialtech.com/ClinicLocations/index.html STARband providers http://www.orthomerica.com/technology/scan_locations.htm Hope this helps! She absolutely HATES being on her tummy. I try to get tummy-time in during the day as much as possible but she screams after a few minutes. I have let her cry til I cant take it anymore (she still hasnt rolled over btw and Im concerned about that too but again dr says its ok). Anyway now her head is flat as a board and I am soo worried. Her ears stick out and her head is just so funny looking. Her dr insists it will round out when she sits up by herself and starts crawling. I have bought a bumbo seat, a walker and a johnny jump-up. She will only stay in them for a few minutes then starts fussing. Ive ordered the new Fisher Price Precious Planet Jumperoo and Im hoping she likes it. She LOVES laying on her back tho, I can leave her on the floor playing for an hour and she wont fuss, in fact she squeals. Im so frustrated . I want to take her to a specialist but I dont know what kind to take her to, a pediatric neurologist or surgeon?? I would very much appreciate any advice or info . ------------------------------------ For more plagio info
Guest guest
Welcome! Feel free to as a ny questions about plagio that you night have! Do you have a Cranial Tech near you? http://www.cranialtech.com/ They do free evals to see if a band is needed or would help. They will let you know the severity, take pics and measurments, etc. Then you can take that info to your dr. Also, you can see a cranio-facial specialist... though rememebr that they see very severe cranial deformaties and don;t always acknowlede the sinple plagio. Please post pics of your baby too!! :-) New here: Daughter has flat head, dr insists it will round out please help My daughter is 4 1/2 months old and her head has been flat since she was about 7 weeks old. Guest guest
I too had the same issue w/ my daughter, now 5 mos old and was diagnosed at 2 mos old. Her pedi said that it won't be a problem. When we insisted that we see a specialist, he sent us to a neurosurgeon that told us, "it will fix itself" We were not very impressed w/ that response since he didn't even look at my child...so, we went to our family doc and she sent us to a cranial facial specialist and we received a much better response. Keep after the tummy time...try showing her books while she lays on the floor, that really seems to keep my daughter content. Also, you could try rolling a towel up and placing it under her chest to keep her face up until she can get enough strength built up. Don't worry about the rolling over either, each child developes at their own rate. The tummy time will really help that. But, back to the plagio, I would suggest seeing someone related to plastic surgery. They tend to me a little more understanding about plagio and everything related to it.Good luck! From: bkittykat1122 <bkittykat1122@...>Subject: New here: Daughter has flat head, dr insists it will round out please helpPlagiocephaly Date: Monday, March 23, 2009, 3:54 AM My daughter is 4 1/2 months old and her head has been flat since she was about 7 weeks old.
