Guest guest
You asked What are the types of non-food products I have to watch to make sure no hidden gluten or casein is sneaking in? Janet Kalbhen ********* Janet, I had the following post from A saved in one of my compu folders. I also made sure our hand soap, dish washing liquid is GFCF also. Hope this help some. (LJs mom) on LOng Island New York ****** Gluten is darn sneaky... I find casein is more obvious and easier to find. But that gluten! Here is what freaked me out early on but I was able to target and eliminate: - Shampoo (I had an oat based shampoo originally) See the GFCFdiet.com list for acceptable ones - Suncreen (I used the most popular PINK kid sunscreen bottle - it has GLUTEN.) I now use Banana Boat for Kids - Play-doh - now replaced with Crayola MODEL MAGIC or the /Karyn Seroussi recipe - Finger paints - I use the Rose Arts Finger paints - they are great - CERTAIN BRANDS of baking powder - I use Miss Robens Corn free baking powder and www.specialfoods.com baking powders - Vinegars - we love balsamic vinegar at our house and Jeff cannot have it so I switched to apple cider vinegar - Rice Dream Rice milk -we all know that story... now I use Pacific Rice Milk - STICKERS AND STAMPS: Yup, they have gluten. We don't let Jeff use those. ALLERGIES AND PHENOLS also are a problem for us. These are the ones we eliminated: - Frontier Vanilla NON Alcohol brand (just mentioned earlier today) - I found Jeff reacted poorly to the plain, alcohol based vanillas from McCormicks. I had to switch to Frontier NON alcohol brand. - Phenols: Bananas, apples, (switched to pears and papaya,) No to peanuts (switched to Almond butter.) No to chocolates (casein!) - COMMON ALLERGIES: Corn and soy. (Try going two weeks without these to see if your child reacts to them.) Take care A jeffs mom (still trying to make sure all is gluten free - even WAX paper!!) ________________________________________________________________ GET INTERNET ACCESS FROM JUNO!
