Guest guest
Hi , I guess I don't know why he will be in the casts 6 weeks. I thought maybe this was typical. From what Dr. Noonan told me it is the same tenotomy procedure he had done at 10 weeks. So I'm not sure what the difference is beteen the open-incision and the percutaneous. I don't believe he ever had the ideal dorsiflexion. His left foot is very good, but the right is tight. Even though his left foot is good Dr. Noonan says he is going to " tweek it up " . He did say that he typically wait until a year to do this procedure but is trying it a bit earlier on Aidan and anticipates better results. So here is the lowdown of his treatment. Casts at 3 weeks until he was 9 weeks at which time he had a tenotomy and was casted for 3 more weeks after. At that point he went into the Denis Brown Shoes the day before I returned to work. I was an overwhelmed mess. Then one week later my father died unexpectedly. In addition to the shoes he was given a regimen of weekly physical therapy at the clinic and PT with mom 3 times daily which just consisted of stretching and inticing the little guy to get moving. I believe the goal was to get full dorsiflexion. Aidan's physical therapist agrees that she thinks it a good idea to do this sooner and not wait until he is a year, but she was also confused by the 6 week casting. I hope this is what you wanted to know. > > > > My son Aidan is 8 1/2 months old and he is having his second > tenotomy > > on Tuesday.
