Guest guest
I went through Richmond. I got approved and was notified by the PCP two days after she submitted the package. She actually emailed me the letter of approval but it was about two weeks when I got the actual letter in the mail confirming what my PCP had already sent and told me. Two weeks after that, I did get my first appointment (orientation) card. Please keep in mind that was a year and 3 months ago and I have heard that things have changed since I went through the program. I know it is exciting but you are going to learn what it really means when someone says " be patient " because it might seem like things are taking a bit longer than you would like it to but just try and remain positive and focused. I am happy for you and wish you well on your journey and by all means DO NOT LOSE ANY WEIGHT UNTIL ORIENTATION because IT DOES NOT COUNT TOWARDS THE 10% they will require you to lose. I am not sure about Fremont or So. SF. Welcome to the group. I go to the Parkshadeland's Kaiser in Walnut Creek. My doctor referred me for the surgery this past Monday (two days ago). I had to meet w/ my nutricionist first then a pshychologist. My doctor said I should be getting a call from Richmond Kaiser staff w/in three weeks. I guess this is when I find out if I was accepted for the surgery. I'm looking forward to begin this journey. I know it'll be hard work, but I'm ready!. I can't wait to get back to the court (volleyball court). I've been playing competative volleyball all my life and since I've gained all this weight (about 90 lbs), my knees have been taking a lot of beating! I'm scheduled to see a physical therapist (for my knees) in two weeks. I really hope to hear from Richmond Kaiser soon! If any of you have gone through the Richmond program, any insight/information would be greatly appreciated! : ) New Yahoo! Messenger with Voice. Call regular phones from your PC and save big. Guest guest
Hey welcome fellow volleyball maniac. I went to UC Berkeley on a volleyball scholarship...but got pretty hrut my second year and there went the career. I was the setter (too short to be helpful at the net.) I went through Richmond, Dr. Fisher. I guess what I would tell you is that they weigh you at your orientation, and it is from that point that they determine the 10% weight loss. They are pretty efficient, but calling and letting them know your commitment level and all of that never hurts. I found the staff very helpful and dedicatd...the hospital stay was terrific...great staff. It's a little more "strict" in some respects than are the other programs in Kaiser (you must keep your 10% off until you have the surgery, if you go up...they will cancel your surgery. They weighed me the a.m. of...that weight loss thing adds a level of stress if you are just AT your goal (like I was)...because I used to go up and down two to three lbs. in one fell swoop...often without any obvious reason behind it. But, the bottom line is that they want you to adhere to a program, because it's not like this is a magic bullet or anything. You need to work even post surgery. Good luck, it's a wild ride!
