These are from the USDA data set as published in table 2 of Home and Garden Bulletin No. 72, " Nutritive Value of Foods, " revised 1985. The list is HUGE, quite comprehensive, and authoritative. This data is the source of nutritional information used by many authors of nutrition books, yet is free :-) There are 2 Excel spreadsheets, one sorted by food name, the other sorted by protein content. There is also a simple text file, sorted by food name.
