Guest guest
Thank you so much for posting the website of products that are unsafe for babies. I had several items that I threw out after reading the articles and checking the cosmetic database. I never would have thought that products geared for infants would be allowed to have these chemical additives that are so harmful. Guest guest
WOW, THAT WEBSITE IS DISTURBING! I HAVE USED 2 OF THOSE SHAMPOOS ON MY SON AND ONE IS THE ONE I AM USING NOW. I HAVE ALSO USED THE ADULT PRODUCTS ON MYSELF. I AM THROWING THEM OUT! Re: {Disarmed} Re: Itchy head We don't have our helmet yet, but my daughter has really flakey, itchy scalp. We use California Baby Super Sensitive shampoo now and also treat the really bad spots with hydrocortisone cream. I was wondering how the helmet is going to effect her poor little scalp. I guess we'll find out soon enough. Beth in MN Plagiocephaly on Tuesday, June 24, 2008 at 11:23 AM -0500 wrote: I might try switching your shampoo and body wash to a very mild hypoallergenic variety. We did this when we were noticing some itching and it worked great. We ordered California Baby super sensitive shampoo and body wash. It did the trick. Very mild and organic and unsented. This was the answer for us and we are still using this particular baby line for sunblock, bubble bath , lotion etc. It is wonderful, Californiababy. com or diapers.com or a local buybuybaby or whole foods store. Try it in combo with the other suggestion with brushing the head and see what happens. Tammy Sabs NY
Guest guest
Hi Beth- When will your daughter get her helmet? If you have time before you get it, I would highly recommend rubbing Extra Virgin Olive Oil on her scalp. My son had cradle cap and I was really embarassed when we went to Cranial Tech and were getting his photos taken, because as they wet and combed his hair down, it started to flake. The woman taking the pictures recommended EVOO (for you Ray fans), it was recommended to her and worked wonders for her daughter. Apparently there are a lot of natural antioxidents in the EV variety. I used it 2 or 3 times on my son hoping to clear up the cradle cap before his band came in and it did the trick. I put about a tablespoon on his scalp while in the bath and rubbed it in good, then used a comb to comb it in and scrape the scalp. Then washed it out with shampoo 2 or 3 times. His hair was still oily the next day, but the cradle cap was gone within a week and a couple extra washings got the oil out. (I imagine if your daughter doesn't have a lot of hair yet, it would be easier to wash out). I'm not sure you can use EVOO while wearing the helmet, since I imagine it might seep into the foam or something if you don't really get it all out of the hair, but if you have time to try it before getting her helmet, I would definitely give it a shot.
