Guest guest
I spoke to Dr. Stiles yesterday and we discussed the lap band versus Roux-n-Y issue. I told her I had reservations about it and we both agreed that the Roux-n-Y would be best too. I've just heard too many negative things about the lap band dispite the fact that it's less invasive. I'm opting for the Roux. in Cupertino
Guest guest
Apaarently in the last few days, Fox News ran a major feature about a doctor performing this variety of bariatric surgery. A nurse who works for two doctors, one of whom does roux-en-Y and one of whom does VGB was prompted to write in an email that the number of additional surgeries and complications for VGB patients was MUCH larger than for roux-en-Y patients. She cited paresis, slippage, infection, and simple " maintenance adjustments " . Many VGB patients end up choosing to " revise " to roux-en-Y. She also points out that VGB patients rarely have only one surgery, and that adjustment surgeries (which are usually the " I'm not losing weight fast enough, I want my band to be tighter " kind of situation - often followed by " we're going back in to take care of infection or paresis because the band's too tight " surgeries) are usually NOT covered by insurance. Any more questions? How's this for a motto? " If you were less gastric, we could chance being less drastic, but... " Randy
