Guest guest
I need some ideas from you learned people. I have a friend with a child who attacks her. Not just hitting, he's running at her with both fist. She was born with many defects and a fall could permanently cripple her. And he, of course, knows this. She adopted this child later in life and after knowing all her life she wouldn't be able to have children has certainly spoiled him. He is five and reading at a second or third grade level. He reads oddly, in that he doesn't make any attempts at sounding out. It seems to suddenly come to him. He is socially behind, is afraid of so many things I can't list them, animals being at the top, but he was terrified of a plant last year. I think, from what I've read, that hyperlexia is a possibility here. Is this physically response to anger, or to disappointment something seen in hyperlexia? How is it best handled? I have convinced her, I think, that spankings is not the way to go. Thank you, Lolita
