Guest guest
Larissa, I'm in Oklahoma, I think we spoke on here recently didn't we? According to Dr. Ponseti's secretary, your doctor is not on any " approved " lists qualifying him in the Ponseti Method. And if you son is having so much trouble with treatment that tells me your doctor is not really using the method. He might be using a lose version of it, a modified version or just his idea of it all - but there shouldn't be these kinds of issues if it's been done right. It sounds like you're getting conflicting answers from everyone you talk to there which of course is no help to you whatsoever! Use of the FAB is really critical, so for them to say just take it off until you come back in is wrong on many levels. Obviously they don't understand the importance of it...or the importance of one that doesn't fit right causing problems that need addressed immediately. If the FAB hasn't been used right or the fit has been poor, the foot may have relapsed to the point that the FAB is indeed doing more harm than good at this point. If is having trouble with the FAB, yes, it could be one of those cases where he just cannot tolerate that style of shoe, it's been known to happen. More often than not though, it's not the shoe's fault, it's the foot is not corrected and thus the shoe hurts and causes sores, etc. If the foot is not ready for the FAB, then NO fab is going to work on him. You need to be sure the foot is ready before trying other shoes. Unfortunately, if there is any question about the feet being corrected or not I don't know how you'd find that out with out a 2nd opinion from someone who actually knows this stuff... meaning, traveling to a well-qualified PONSETI doctor...not some Oklahoma wanna-be. Sorry if that sounds harsh honey but my 1st son went through the wringer with faulty treatments before I saw the Light. There just wasn't help to be had here. I think you were going to try to send photos through to us, is that possible? Because with out seeing the feet our hands are kind of tied. We can't say if he look atypical or other wise; if he is a case of atypical, then you definately need to get him out of Oklahoma!!! Very few doctors can fix that problem. I'm not even sure what you mean when you say the shoes are hurting him and stuff. Could they be too small, too large? Put on incorrectly? Set incorrectly? Not enough hours, too many hours? It's just so hard to say. Um, I guess try to describe the problems you're having in a little more detail to us cuz there are just so many variables to consider. And if you can send a photo through that would be a huge help too. shawnee Oklahoma Is there anyone on the website from OK? Like to what Dr they are going to. We go back to the orthotic on Wed. and then to ortho. after that to check his feet. Any suggestion from anyone? We go to Children's in OKC he sees Dr Herndon. We see trexler at orthotic. I was told last week when I was having problems that Dr uses the ponseti method. When I called ortho they wasn't much help then, so I called the orthotic dept. he says he shouldn't be that fussy, were he screams for hours and hours told me to take off to he sees him on the 1st of Feb. Then the next day the ortho dept. called me told them orthotic told me to take off for now he told me to come in after we see them. That's when he told me they use the ponseti method. Does anyone know Dr. Herndon from Children's, he also has a office in Edmond Ok. Can anyone tell me about the new sandels Ponseti help design, post to be more comfortable. Easier leather not post to rub the heels, stay in better. Anysuggestion? Thanks Larissa and cb 7-15-
