Guest guest
Its recommended not to remove the cast prior to the appointment-ie the night before-just for what you believe, he may lose correction. We presoaked the casts and removed them the morning of david's appointments. However, after we switched doctors-the cast saw was used with no problems. Our secret to the soaking-so not to spend too much time in a tub-we would make a solution of warm water and vinegar, soak washcloths, then wrap the cloths around the casts. Cover the cloths with ziplock bags and then we put david in his bouncer-popped in a baby einstein movie. This presoak helped minimalize the amount of time soaking in a tub! hth, kathleen mom to david 8/28/04 bcf fab 12/7 > > Hi all, > I'm just curious...did/do most of you soak the casts off before the > doctor's appointment or was the cast cut off at the doctor's office? > My little guy had a hard time dealing with the cast saw (probably the > noise) and the nurse scared me into thinking that he may even get a > saw " burn " (which he didn't get). Guest guest
How long does it usually take to soak the cast off (from the start of the soak to the actual removal)? I have a couple of cast appointments in the morning so I want to give myself enough time. > > > > Hi all, > > I'm just curious...did/do most of you soak the casts off before the > > doctor's appointment or was the cast cut off at the doctor's office? > > My little guy had a hard time dealing with the cast saw (probably > the > > noise) and the nurse scared me into thinking that he may even get a > > saw " burn " (which he didn't get). Guest guest
At least for me- typically 1 hour presoak(baby einstein works great) and then roughly 15 to 20 minutes in the tub soaking and removing the casts. What really helped was our doctor put a " nubbin " on the cast that gave us something to grip and to begin the cast removal. Make sure you go heavy on the vinegar with the presoak-it was a great help! kathleen > > > > > > Hi all, > > > I'm just curious...did/do most of you soak the casts off before > the > > > doctor's appointment or was the cast cut off at the doctor's > office? > > > My little guy had a hard time dealing with the cast saw > (probably > > the > > > noise) and the nurse scared me into thinking that he may even > get a > > > saw " burn " (which he didn't get).
