Guest guest
Olivia sleeps so very well on memory foam. I wish I would have discovered it years ago. HRH head misshape Hi,I don't have a lot of time right now, but just wanted to mention. I had taken our dd, who has congenital scoli and a misshapen head due to the scoli,to the cranial technologies and they said she did not really need a helmet, and was really too old for it as she was over 2, I think at the time. So, I got that memory foam and put it under the sheet in the crib mattress. I don't know if it really helped, or if it is good for scoli or not, but it made me feel as if I was doing something... It was very expensive though, I thought. But, her head never seems to stay on the pillow. Has any one else tried the memory foam? OF course, this idea would only work for those over 2 years old or so becuase of the risk of SIDS and the memory foam. At least that is what I would guess, since they say not to put them to sleep on soft things.
Guest guest
Kam, Relax the Back is one of my favorite stores, as well! I have one of their fabric "back bags", and my goal is to own one of the leather ones. They are great! Carole
Guest guest
-Peggy- Oiy -do I know what you mean! I have 2 methods that help relieve or avoid the hip pain. I have an L-shaped or boomerang shaped pillow. It's like 2 pillows sewn together at a right angle and about the size of a body pillow. I sleep with one end of the pillow under my head like a normal pillow would be positioned and the other side lies along my back so I can lean on it and get the pressure off my hip but not be fully on my back cause I snore on my back and my husband can't sleep. I have also stuffed a regular pillow under my back when I am away from home to accomplish the same result as using my L shaped pillow but it is annoying to have to move and reposition it while trying to sleep. The other solution is I head for the couch where I accomplish the same purpose by lying on my side but leaning on the back of the couch and get the pressure off my hip. I do have the 4 in (I think) foam pad- I got it at Costco for about $100 and I do like it. If you are interested, I got the L-shaped pillow at Macy's but I honestly haven't seen it there for quite a while. Maybe on the internet at some medical or back-aid sites. Guest guest
I don't use a topper, but my mattress is a memory foam and I really love it. Sometimes I wake up stiff as a board, like sleeping on a coil mattress but most of the time I wake up in a little cradle of comfort. I haven't tried the sleep number bed but if/when I need to get a new bed I think that will be what I aim for. I hope the 4 inch topper, atop the 2 inch one will give you some relief. Years back, when having back pain/stiffness, but way before this array of back issues started, I used an egg crate foam topper and loved how it cushioned my joints and helped me sleep better. I guess that's why I got a memory foam mattress about 5 years ago. Gross [ ] memory foam I've ordered a Serta 4-inch memory foam topper for my bed. I have a 2-inch topper now but it's not helping. My hip hurts so badly when I lay on my left side that I am hoping it will help. Does anyone else use a topper? I can't afford a sleep number bed just yet. Guest guest
Hi All Looking to buy just two small pieces of memory foam for my twin's heads while we wait for the helmets, but all I see memory foam mattresses? Any advice on where to buy it? Thanks!
Guest guest
Hi : Based upon advice received here (thank goodness!), we did the thing, and it will help your kiddos get comfortable with the helmets as well, so leave the foam on! We bought a foam topper at Target and cut it to fit- the twin was $60, but they have great deals now on the back to college stuff, so you may find it cheaper. So far, it has been a fairly painless couple of months, and we are in South Florida where it is too hot! Good Luck! ________________________________ From: Plagiocephaly on behalf of cbrownie15 Sent: Thu 8/7/2008 2:44 PM Plagiocephaly Subject: Memory Foam Hi All Looking to buy just two small pieces of memory foam for my twin's heads while we wait for the helmets, but all I see memory foam mattresses? Guest guest
I bought a twin-size piece of memory foam at Target for $40. I cut it down to fit the crib mattress and with the left over pieces of foam I used them as pillows everywhere else my son was resting his head - bouncy seat, swing, car seat, changing pad, etc. Molly Novato, California Nicolas, 2.5, tort & plagio, STARband (CIRS Oakland) 4/24/06-9/12/06, Graduate! , 5 , 8.5 Memory Foam Hi All Looking to buy just two small pieces of memory foam for my twin's heads while we wait for the helmets, but all I see memory foam mattresses? Guest guest
I got my memory foam mattress from Target and cut it in two. One for her crib and another used at her daycare. I don't think that it is safe to use it just for the head. Guest guest
We got a great 4 inch memory foam on ebay- there is one business if you watch you can get a great deal! We got our California King, with cover, free shipping for 28.00! We are " sweaters " (Houston TX is hot and muggy) in our house- I spent a good chunk of money(3 times as much as the memory foam) on a 100 percent cotton super thick mattress pad which I put over the memory foam. I then use 800 -1000 count sheets(another great deal on ebay) which also help wick away the heat. IT still seems a bit warmer but much better then trying to sleep directly on it. We do need to buy our daughter a new bed and we are torn between a good quality memory foam and a sleep number... Diane M > It's actually supposed to help keep > you cool. Guest guest
Sleep number beds are not worth the money. They are basically air mattress dressed up to appear to be worth the money. I bought a memory foam that was half the price of Tempurpedic and it's just as good with the long warrenty. ________________________________ From: diane neuman <neumandiane@...> Scoliosis Treatment Sent: Sat, September 11, 2010 6:15:27 PM Subject: Re: Memory foam  We got a great 4 inch memory foam on ebay- there is one business if you watch you can get a great deal! We got our California King, with cover, free shipping for 28.00! We are " sweaters " (Houston TX is hot and muggy) in our house- I spent a good chunk of money(3 times as much as the memory foam) on a 100 percent cotton super thick mattress pad which I put over the memory foam.
