Guest guest
Hi, Carole, Good to hear from you again...I think we " talked " a looooong time ago about relapse. Anyway, I have my 5 year old Evan whom we started having fits about when he was almost 4. He also was/is pigeon toed but it was only noticeable when he was running. When sitting with feet hanging straight down over the edge of a chair his feet were still perfect. We took him to see Dr. Mosca who agreed with us that correction was still perfect but he took one look at him running down the hall and said " Quit looking at his feet--look at his knees " . When running his knees turned, causing the whole lower part of his leg to twist in a bit when stepping forward. This in turn, caused the feet to swing inward at the last part of his stride. The diagnosis was femoral torsion which resolves in all but .01% of cases by age 8. We took him in again this June, one year later...same diagnosis. And we do think that we are seeing small degrees of self correction occurring now, much to our relief. We sent a video to Dr. P. who was not able to detect this without seeing Evan, I guess. Anyway, if you seek another opinion get them to check carefully for femoral torsion. They do this on the exam table, face down knees bent to 90 degrees, then turn the whole thigh inward and then outward. If the range of motion is too large there is femoral torsion. Sorry this got so long....hope it helps! Shelley and Evan (8-17-00) > > > > Aloha all:) > > I was reading this last post and It hits home for my son also.
