I just joined the group. My aniversary date is next week so I hope it

is okay to post a question " early. "

I had open gastric bypass on June 26, 2002. I have lost a total

(including weight lost just before surgery) of 94 pounds. I have 30

more to go. That will put me at 165. I am 5' 9 " so I will be happy

at 165, but if I go lower that would also be great.

My question is on thyroid problems. I was diagnosed with thyroid

cancer and had the whole thing out in 1999. I take thyroid

replacement every day. My weight has come off VERY slowly after my

surgery and my surgeon and thyroid doctor both say it is because I am

not absorbing my thyroid pills correctly. My specialist is working on

this with me and we have made some progress. I finally lost another 9

pounds after being on a plateau for 4 months!

Has anyone else had this problem? Or any kind of thyroid problem that

affected their weight loss?

What a great group!! Thanks for having me.
