Carol,

I am 6 weeks out and have been nausous for at least the last 2 weeks. I have

thrown up about 3 or 4 times. Went to the surgeon about the nausea, and he

prescribed nausea medication. He said this is a fairly common side effect, that

could last up to about 3 or 4 months. While I was there, there was another

woman who was having the exact same problem, but she was vomiting more then I

was.the Surgeon said the same thing to her.

I also received a magazine today about wls, and it listed nausea as the most

common side effect.

Hope this helps.

Subject: Nauseous

Hi everyone. I haven't been up to posting for a while but now I

have a question and need to know if anyone else had this problem. I

had Open RNY on 4/7/04. Got home on 4/10, not sleeping and throwing

up brown mucus stuff. Went to surgeon, who told me to go to my

family doctor. Family doctor put me on an antibiotic (Biaxin)

because he said I had post surgery bronchitis with a slight

infection in the bottom of my incision. The antibiotic made me sick

to my stomach with an itchy rash for two days. Gave my stomach a

rest for two days and on this past Thursday started a new

antibiotic. Needless to say felt sick to my stomach again so I have

not taken the new antibiotic since Thursday. The problem is I can't

stop throwing up. Some days I can keep down my protein shakes and

soup, some days I can't. I just feel sick to my stomach all the

time. I called my surgeon's office this morning but haven't gotten

a call back yet. I was wondering if anyone else had this throwing

up three weeks after surgery and what did they do. Sorry for

the " sick " talk but I wanted to give you all the info to help figure

out what is wrong or if this is normal. Thanks for any info you can

give me.
