Guest guest
I had upper jaw surgery to correct an open bite in Oct of 2003. I did not get my braces off until Dec. 2004. You do the math!!! Yep, braces after surgery are the norm. That is how they fine tune everything. For some reason my post-surgery orthodontics took longer than most people. I have heard the average in braces post op ranges from 4 to 10 months. > > Hi guys, I'm going to get upper jaw surgery because I have an > overbite and a recessed chin, and possibly lower jaw surgery if my > lower jaw does not move up sufficiently enough to meet my new upper > jaw's position. Guest guest
Thanks for all of your comments! That is complete news to me, my surgeon did not mention once that I would have braces after surgery, but it seems like the norm so I might have to go yell at him... I was hoping to be totally free of everything by college but maybe that's not an option
