Guest guest
>My question is, are students prepared to do >ABA? Could parents do it by themselves, by reading the whole >program or is >it necessary to be done by a Psychologist. >Sorry for so many questions. Carmen. Carmen, Please don't feel bad about asking questions. We have students who do our ABA program, and they are very good. In a way, students can sometimes be better because they are more willing and able to learn and take direction from you (the parent). This might be a good option for you. Also, while the students work with your child, you can observe them, read books about ABA, and practice doing what they do. As time goes by, you will feel more comfortable doing it on your own. I know there are a couple of good books about ABA, but I can't think of the names of any at this moment. I think there is one by an author named Maurice. Some others on this list might be able to recommend a book. I *don't* think you would have to spend $800 to get a good book and some materials to work with your child. Thanks for your thoughts and prayers, Carmen. It is nice to know that people from other countries are as outraged as we are. in Texas
Guest guest
> thank you very much Dana. One more question: Have you been trained in > ABA, or you just read the Book and started doing it? > Thanks. > Carmen I just read the book and started doing it. I also read the Maurice book called Let Me Hear Your Voice, that helps with some of the ideas also. I did modify it somewhat, because my son learned differently than the children referenced in the manual. I had to adapt a few of the drills, and I taught concepts in a different order than presented in the manual. But overall it is a good starting point and will get you going.
