Guest guest
Hey everyone! We got some good news yesterday! After speaking to a few people and visiting the Tricare website we decided to switch Lucas over to Standard so his visits to Dr. Ponseti will be paid for. My husband went into the local Tricare office and asked to be switched over. The lady wanted to know why and he explained the whole story- starting with Lucas' first cast and ending with the surgery and relapse. Well, she said she wanted him to wait, that she wanted to check everything out before switching because then he'd be locked in for a year. Another thing, the hospital commander here won't let Standard beneficaries be seen on base- only Prime, so we'd have to find an off base Ped if we did switch. Well, she found the lady who actually approves/disapproves the referrals and she came out to talk to my husband. Apparently the PCM who put in the referral for us, just put it in as a second referral. The lady said she didn't know the whole story or she wouldn't have denied it. So...she changed it to say something about how his treatment here wasn't working and then approved it! We didn't have to switch to Standard and Tricare is also paying for my husband to travel to Iowa and reimburseing us for last week! I am so excited! I'm going to write a nice letter for the lady behind the desk. If it wasn't for her asking questions and telling us not to change yet, we'd be on Standard and paying some out of pocket for the next year. Joyce called today and left me a great message! She was so excited and her voice was raised saying, " Tricare's paying for all your visits!!! " She is such a wonderful person! Just had to share the news. I know it's too late for , but maybe this will help someone else before they have to switch. Jenn
