The pain was bad for the first two days (I had a lap), and then it hardly bothered me at all. Not even enough to take pain meds. But, days 1 and 2 were not fun. >I handled those surgerys >with no problem. But I heard this could be alot worse. Completely NORMAL! > I'm afraid that afterwards I won't > be able to stop eating Believe me, you'll stop eating. It's physically impossible not to. > I'm also afraid that the pain after > surgery is going to be too much. No worries. Dr. Anthone uses an epidural, which makes you pretty much NUMB from the lower chest down. In about 10% of cases the epidural doesn't work. In that case, Dr. A will switch you to a PCA pump thingie loaded with Dilaudid, a synthetic opiate that is about 1.6 times MORE powerful than HEROIN. In my case, the pain from the surgery was essentially gone by about day four post-op. Some folks have a little bit for a longer time, and a few even need to take vicodin for a few days at home, but I think that's pretty rare. So, don't sweat the pain issue. I really doubt it's any worse than a c-section.
