Guest guest
Well, first let me say thanks for all the great information that I receive from this board. I mostly lurk via the digests but sometime at the end of my day I try to catch up on this board. When I saw the Vioxx warnings, I took heed and immediately stopped taking it. Well, I had almost forgotten how painful the pain in my foot and ankle can be. I trained for a marathon last year and after walking on flat feet for 50 years and more than half of that time being morbidly obese, my tendon in my right foot just more or less gave out. Before surgery I took aleve everyday for arthritis and I was concerned about what I'd do post surgery. However, the weight loss took much of the pressure off my knees. Then when the tendonitis flared up, my doctors decided that celebrex and vioxx would be safe. My foot & ankle doc also suggested bextra. I ended up with vioxx and wa-la in time I could get out of that walking book, and I have been pain free. Last night when I got up to leave my office, the pain in my foot was so great I could barely walk. This morning it is the same. I am very tempted to get back on the viox. My goodness - it was really, really working. I did find the syn-flex online and ordered it. I now wish I had ordered it " next day air " versus group transportation. And folks think we took the easy way out? You let them try to figure out their labs and then set up their vitamin and mineral dosages accordingly, or have to research up to ying yang every time they have to take anything into their bodies, or swap one pain for another. All right, this post is long enough. I just wanted to share that the " to take vioxx versus to not take vioxx " issue is a difficult delimnia. I will confess when I read where people said they were opting to take it anyway, didn't make sense to me. Ha! It had not worn out of my system. Now - I feel you guys and apologize for my moment of " judgmentalness " . You'd think a 51 year old would get tired of being humbled in this manner. Go figure ). Guest guest
struggle with vioxx... I did find the syn-flex online and ordered it. I now wish I had ordered it " next day air " versus group transportation For whatever it is worth, I take Bextra because I chose to do so for the pain of inflammation. I have read all the caveats against it. I also take pain meds when I need to because my right hip feels like hot coals lie there otherwise and I become a slug who will not move without it. I saw the thing on syn-flex as well and did look it up and intended to get it. I discussed it with my wife and she came home with a liquid something from Walmart,,,,,cannot remember the brand at the moment,,,,,Glucosamine chrondroitin,,,,,,and I started taking it. I cannot say for sure whether it is the pain med, the Bextra (all of which I took before) but I have noticed over the last two days a dramatic lessening of the pain. I have also been taking the same thing via pill form for months on end and have never noticed a diff. I also intend to try the syn-flex, cause I am open to anything which will reduce a threat to my health/pouch but keep me mobile.
