Guest guest
Well, I went to see my ortho yesterday to get my o-rings changed and also to get him to check out one of my front teeth that I have been agonizing over. Like I've said repeatedly on this board, before putting braces on this time around my teeth were pretty straight but now I feel they are all over the place. i know this is normal pre- surgery but when one of my two front teeth started to literally move forward leaving the other one behind I flipped out. As if wearing braces isn't bad enough now I have to walk around with two very crooked front teeth?! So I showed it to my ortho who hadn't seen me in the last 5 weeks and he said, " oh yes, that needs to be fixed, i can do that. " So there I am thinking " Oh goodie! " Then I see him whip out a pair of pliers and I look at him and say " uhmmm, what are you going to do with that? " There were no wires that needed tightening as far as I knew. " This, " he says, " is what I'm going to use to push that tooth back into its proper position. " YIKES! " Now, you're going to feel a lot of pressure but hang in there. " AND TALK ABOUT PRESSURE! He literally pulled my tooth back into its position and boy did i feel it. I have no idea how he did but I thought I was going to jump out of the chair. While it did hurt like hell it was worth it because my two front teeth are now back to where they should be and to be extra safe he has now wrapped some wire around my two front teeth to make sure they stay in their place, rather than using o- rings. He was especially concerned about my teeth staying put for my pre-op surgical work-up which is one week's time. He said that this was very important for the molds they will be taking so I guess this goes to show, if there is anything that is bothering you even about how straight your teeth don't look, TELL UR DOCTOR because chances are he can fix it immediately and it might be important. I also thought that this experience reminded me once again about how wonderous our teeth and mouth are. The amount of pressure, pain and juggling around they can take is amazing. Well that's my little novel for the day. Hope all are well. Sara
