I think you'd have to take that up with your priest or your bishop. In my husband's case, he ADDS something for Lent -- or more correctly, I do. I'm not Catholic, and it's no longer specifically required, but I make sure we have fish (or other seafood) on Friday (and Ash Wednesday) during Lent. <g> And, if it comes down to it, SCD is a plus in other areas, too. Like almond bread during Passover. Snort. Yeah - if you call being stricter than passover restrictions all year long a plus... Though it does make cleaning the kitchen for passover pretty much a snap. Mara

Right, but at least you don't have to give up anything ADDITIONAL... and change the way you cook! — Marilyn New Orleans, Louisiana, USA Undiagnosed IBS since 1976, SCD since 2001 Darn Good SCD Cook No Human Children Shadow & Sunny Longhair Dachshund

Bonus! Or maybe not so much! <vbg> I used to always believe that Passover was salutary for people who kept kosher because it made you re-frame your notions about being kosher in the first place. In other words, Passover was so much more onerous in terms of what you had to give up, it made you realize regular kashrut wasn't that restrictive at all. So, a diet that is stricter than Passover restrictions all year long - kind of like its own divine comedy. Mara
