Guest guest
I don't know how much info. you want. I had giardiasis years ago. I still had symptoms after being treated with atebrine (sp?) and flagyl. I don't like to take any meds. though, so you won't get an unbiased opinion from me. I think the treatment is worse than the cure. I think there are other things you can do to kill giardia naturally, but I don't remember what they are - maybe search on internet. Anyway, I still fight the same issues today that I had then. I think that I already had a problem before I had the giardia (if giardia was really my problem) and the giardia just made me realize I couldn't ignore it. I believe I had the giardia, I just don't know if that was what was causing my problems. After the meds., I was sensitive to pretty much everything I ate. If the dr. had known to tell me to try this diet then, I think I would have been better years ago. Too bad they don't know anything about diets. By the way, I've read that some people have giardia but never have problems with it. I would want to know it was the right medication for the target before taking anything. That's kind of like a mechanic blindly replace car parts 'to see if it helps!' ; )You can read up on it here http://en.wikipedia .org/wiki/ Flagyl There is a section regarding Giardia there too about midway down the page. It does appear that Flagyl specifically targets Giardia, if that is truly your problem.AmeliaHusband UC 9 years, SCD 19 monthsLDN 3 mg From: smdsmom2008 <smdsmom2008@ yahoo.com>To: BTVC-SCD@yahoogroup s.comSent: Wed, February 3, 2010 4:34:20 AMSubject: Re: Flagyl I think I would want stool cultures or some idea before trying Flagyl. My GI thought my symptoms a year ago were due to C dif, and I took a course of Flagyl. Guest guest
Sorry, I meant to say that I think the treatment is worse than the disease, not cure. Thanks.
