Guest guest
Dana I had my WLS 200 miles away from home. The morning after surgery, I passed the leak test and was to be discharged. I asked to stay a second night b/c I didnt want to be so far away if something went wrong. I was discharged 48 hrs after surgery and still wanted to stay in town one more night, so stayed at he hotel my sis had been in. All I needed was a fridge, microwave and coffeepot. For the trip I brought bottled water, Crystal Light in bottles, canned shakes, Cup of Soup packets (creamed chicken), yogurt, sugar-free jello cups, a couple cans of broth, sugar free pudding, etd. I definitely overplanned. My fav food is BBQ and my sis had takeout baby backs from Chili's right in front of me and it didnt bother me one bit. Also brought lots of styrofoam cups for heating the broth and cup of soup, lots of plastic utensils. If the hotel has comp breakfast... try thinned oatmeal or grits ... It was okay on my prescribed diet, but check w/your surgeon. Be sure to bring comfy walking clothes/shoes. Perfect for me was knit bike shorts and tshirts. You will get cabin fever and the more you can walk the hotel/pool area and nearby shopping centers the better. If you can find the tanktops with built in shelf bra, you will be comfy in that as opposed to tshirt and bra. Do not lay up in the room. Go for car rides, explore the city and walk, walk, walk.
