Thanks....just not feeling good tonight cause Im sick and I > had to vent! > ~ , You have lots of worries right now. I would limit your worries to 1 at a time. Lets start with the surgery. The Dr will take very good care of you. Before you go into surgery the Dr will put an IV in your arm and with give you meds that will keep you from throwing up. The very last thing they want you to do is throw up so they will do anything and everything to keep that from happening. If your surgery is more then 2 hours they will put a cathater in. You will be a sleep so you really won't know it's there. You will be glad to have it, in the recovery room. Your going to look different, not real pretty for a while, but that's OK. I am 10 days pos op and most of the swelling is gone. I keep looking at myself in the mirror and think is this what I'll look like forever? Then the next day I look different again. This group is very good at cheering each other on. The first week was a breeze for me now this week not such a breeze. I vented to the group and lots of kind people came on to cheer me up and tell me it will get better. So hang around with us and you'll have lots of support. Guest guest
Your concerns were exactly the same as mine! I most terrified of the recovery, and throwing up once I awoke. I got sick after my wisdom teeth removal also, and this was really my only surgery. First, I stressed my concerns to my surgeon. Next, I stressed this concern with my anesthesiologist the morning of the surgery. They can give you something in your IV to make sure that you don't get sick. The one thing I remember about recovery is them asking me if I felt sick. I did a little bit, so they gave me something real quick. When I got back to my room (about 2 hours later), they asked again if I felt sick and I did a little bit, and they gave me more medicine. They continued to give me something every 8 hours, and I did not get sick once. They even gave me medicine to take home with me in case I felt sick once I got home. Fortunately, I have not had to use it. My OS said I would not need a cathater because I would not be under that long. He said if something happened where the surgery would last longer they would put the cathater in while I was under. After surgery, everyone was so surprised at how I looked. They (including myself) thought that I would look much worse. I was swollen, but not too bad. I had very little bruising, and that started to show up on about day 5 or 6. You will be very surprised at how different the experience is compared to what you are expecting. I was terrified, and I came out of this all thinking, " this isn't so bad " . Don't get me wrong. It is not the bes texperience you are ever going to have, but it truly was not as bad as I expected it to be. Enjoy these next 6 weeks, and use this time to prepare yourself, and to eat whatever you want. Not being able to eat real food has been the hardest part of all of this. So, enjoy it now, and you will be fine. ) > I ordered my Zip and Squeeze bags and head wrap yesterday for my > surgery on June 14th.
