Guest guest
I am feeling much better. My swelling is beginning to go down. Also I switched to just Tylenol liquid for pain management last night. It works fine. I did not like the Codeine that was given me. Now its just eating that is the problem. I love chicken broth, but there are no calories in that. The Ensure and Boost are not very pleasant after the first one. But I am drinking 3 bottles a day. Sleeping got better last night. Although I was up at 2am. I guess I had slept a little too much during the day on Sunday. Don't know if I should force myself to stay awake in order to sleep during the night. Guess it doesn't matter. Now it is the tongue thing on the braces. Very annoying. I try to keep my tongue touching the top of my mouth so it does not become irritated by the hardware. Anybody ever go back to the doctor to have a bit removed from the back? There seems to be a piece sticking out right in the middle of my mouth. There is little enough room for my tongue as it is. Guest guest
How you feel about smoothies? I make 'em for my husband, who's not an orthognathic patient, with yogurt packaged smoothies (I'm thinking Tropicana, but it may be Dannon) and add whey protein (health food store)fruit of whatever sort, a couple of scoops of ice cream, flax seed (if you want the fiber, but strain it if you do that!), a bit of coffee, a squirt of chocolate syrup, whatever I have on hand. Or, to go in another direction, I was able to blend 's Chunky Soups, using a pyrex measuring cup and a hand-held stick blender, and enjoy them. I wasn't chewing, but I wasn't wired, either. I think you could thin them with broth, though. It wouldn't hurt to ask the doc about the problem with your tongue and the hardware, but if you're wired shut, I can't imagine how he'd get in there to see about it. And if you're not, you may or may not be able to open wide enough to give him access -- and he may or may not want you to try! Could you swish with some sort of painkilling, nonalcohol-containing mouthwash that might deaden it a bit? Sorry for the problems, but hope things keep getting better for you.
