Guest guest
Dear Trish, Hi! Speech pathology is a tough job while wired! I had a Le Fort two piece (upper and lower with palate widening) I have been wired for 3 weeks as of today and will be foe 2 more. I am a 5th grade Math and Science teacher and at 2 1/2 weeks went back to school. Only a few of my students understand my muffled words and translate to the class. I have a bell to get their attention. I use powerpoint to teach and write EVERYTHING on the board. The kids laugh at how fast I write now. The first day I returned I talked alot (not that most understood me) and paid for it! My mouth was torn up on the inside and the corners of my mouthwere all blistered. So, now no talking. It is tough and we've been watching a lot of movies. As for food utensils I like my syringe (I still use it) and the large zip and sqeeze bags. The small ones are good for juice, water and thin liquids, but shakes, soups, and thicker foods work better withthe big bags. Good luck and let me know how the surgery goes!
