Guest guest
Hi t, I was really concerned about weight loss prior to my surgery in December because I'm one of those naturally thin people and anytime someone would hear about the jaw surgery, they would look aghast and tell me I was going to disappear from lack of food. Well, it didn't happen. I was banded shut for 12 days and lost 10 pounds, most of which I think came off in the first 4 days after surgery when I didn't have any appetite at all. As soon as I got the bands off and was able to eat soft food, it came right back. I'm now 7 weeks post-op and can eat everything I could pre-op. Even some banned braces foods like tortilla chips, though in small pieces. What I'm getting at is that surgery is not the right time to be thinking about weight loss. Just get through it, get healthy, and then think about any lifestyle changes you want to make. I think there are rare cases where people are able to keep the weight they lost post- op off, but most folks gain it back. And who can blame us? We drank our meals for crying out loud! As for the kissing, it depends on how numb you are. My upper jaw/face and lip were completely numb for about two weeks and then I slowly got the feeling back over another three weeks. I could certainly kiss my boyfriend while I was numb but I don't know that I enjoyed it! Best of luck on Monday and be sure to report back here about your experience. Guest guest
Hi, I had a weight loss of 15lbs, and I was thin to begin with, now I am at the weight I was before my 2 children - one pound. I am 12 weeks post today and I am not as hungry as I was before, AND, I still can't chew, so eating is painful for me. the kissing is rough. I could not kiss my kids for 8 weeks, and I still have a numb upper lip, and it is driving my husband crazy!! I miss kidding him, but it is so wierd trying to kiss him. I can do it, my lips can move, but not having the feeling in my lip, makes me feel like play doh. good luck with the surgery!!1 Behtanne > > due to my oh so caring insurance i am being rushed to surgery on > monday the 31st.
