Guest guest
Hi. We live the the NE Cincinnati suburbs and we have been to Cincinnati Childrens for our Hanger Cranial Band for our son. He had left torticollis and right plagio. His plagio was severe with some moderate bracy. He started his helmet at 5.5 months and we finished 23 hr wear on 4/8. He looks pretty good and we are pleased. We went to the Plagio Clinic that the plastic surgery dept had on Wednesdays (we heard this may be changing). They had ~10 other babies there for an info session and then we saw a PT for tort (which was quick since we had been doing PT for tort since ~5 weeks old) and a specialist (Dawn Rothchild) for plagio. We were then refereed to the Brace Shop for his helmet fitting, etc. They have location in Fairfield, Montgomery (we saw here), and one location near Childrens. We have Anthem insurance. They ended up covering 85%. We were not sure at first and paid up front so we did not have to wait. They cost of the helmet was 1280 (discounted from 2500), half at time of scanning and half at pick up. I think our insurance covered it under durable medical equipment. If you have any other question, feel free to email me. I hope all goes well at your appt tomorrow. Good luck! FYI...make when you check in at plastic surgery that you get your parking tix validated! Robin SW Ohio > > Hi! My daugther is 4 months old and is going to the cranial facial surgeon for her 1st appt on Monday at Cincinnati Children's Hospital. Anyone here been to Dr. (facial plastic surgeon)? What should I expect? Will they do head measurements and facial symmetry measurements at this visit? > > Anyone have Humana (specifically through P & G)? Any insurance issues? > > Since she was 1 month old her head was starting to be flat and it has continued to get worse. Now there is concern because you can feel her sutures and her soft spot is closing early. The ped. said she has plagio, but after my research and reading I think she also has mild tort and brach. My hope is that it's only positional and not craniosynosis. >
Guest guest
Hello, we are from the cincinnati area too. I do not remember which dr. we saw (it was in 2007) but it was an older gentelman and he was not very friendly!! So make up a list of questions, and I think it helps to take someone else to the apt with you to help listen and ask quesitons you may not think of. My husband could not go to the apt with me so my Mother in law went. she was a huge help! we also used hanger. Everything went really well. We also started at 4 months and my daughter only wore her helmet for about 7 weeks!! I do not remember which insurance we had at the time (it changes every year) but it was either Humana or Atna, and they covered the whole thing. I did go to the ped and get a note stating she was in physical therapy since one month for Tort and that during the birth they had used a vacume to help her out just to add as much detail as i could for insurance hoping they would cover! Good Luck! Alison and Caroline- 2007 Hanger graduate
