Hi Tova,

I was just looking at your photos again and was wondering what you had done? I

think you

said you had your lower jaw moved forward, but in your pre-op photos I don't

notice an

overbite.

Hi Maddie,

That's what everyone said! They thought I was " overreacting " because

you really could not see it unless it was pointed out too you.... I

have a fat lower lip which usually covered my bottom teeth & I learned

to look " down " at cameras so my chin didn't look so " doubled " . They

moved my lower jaw forward 5mm. The pre-op braces were used to

intentionally create the largest overjet possible so that the surgery

would be more likely to clear up my snoring and make closing my mouth

properly possible. (it would normally hang open a few cm. and my mouth

would be terribly dry and make me have bad breath.) Also, because of my

small lower palate, I always spit when I talked. I have a " before "

profile picture that I can post... again, it's not extreme... but with

all of the additional issues related to my bite, it seemed worth it to

fix it " properly " - not necessarily for cosmetic reasons. Did anyone

else have breathing/snoring issues related to their incorrect bite? I

have not heard much about that on the site but assumed it was part of

the reason insurance covers it as a medical procedure....

I'll post some more, less flattering pics... you'll see. :-)
