Sandy,

I'm too new to this to offer any real sound advice, but I went by the

information that I found on the Life Extension website regarding managing

autoimmune diseases.

http://www.lef.org/protocols/prtcl-017.shtml

I try to eat 75% alkalizing foods and only 25% acidic foods...there's a list on

the Life Extension site. My main proteins are lean chicken, eggs, and fish.

I've eliminated soda of any kind, I avoid aspartame and Splenda, no caffeine,

little to no processed foods, no fried foods, no red meat and very little (low

or no-fat)dairy. On days when I can't resist cheating a little, then I drink a

" green " drink like Amazing Grass to try to maintain that ratio.

I take supplements like Milk Thistle to support my liver, Krill (fish) oil as an

anti-inflammatory, bromelain as an anti-inflammatory and to help break down

proteins, MSM was recommended by members here to reduce muscle and joint pain

and it works!, Kyo-dophilus (probiotic) to rebalance my digestive tract, and

L-glutamine to strengthen the intestinal lining and rebuild muscle. I tried a

few others, including Moducare but it make me nauseaus so I'm sticking with a

few that seem to be working for me.

I'm not 100%, but most days I can function without any meds...maybe just some

ibuprofen. Prednisone does wonders for me, but I'm trying not to take it and to

date have only had to be on a short course when I was first diagnosed. So far,

I am far luckier than some others with this disease, but I've only been dealing

with this for a few months.

Please consider seeing a doctor though if your depression doesn't ease. This

disease can weigh you down, but in most cases it does get better, so hang in

there!

Deb Z.

coping alternatives. I am desperative and don't have insurance to cover or

funds to cover doctors right now. I need help with depression and fatigue which

are my biggest problems.
