Guest guest
My son is 7 months old, and he was diagnosed with Plagiocephaly and Brachycephaly. I noticed that his head was flat when he was about 6 weeks old, but no one seemed to want to listen to me. I finally switched pediatricians. The doctor did not agree with what I was saying, but had no problem giving me the prescription for the helmet. We live in Philadelphia, and have been driving two hours weekly to get his helmet fitted. My son has been in the band for two weeks, and I have been strict about keeping it on for 23 hours a day. I think I see improvement, but I am not sure. We are going to Craniel Tech tomorrow. Hopefully they will have his head mold in. These are my concerns, and I am wondering if anyone has any feedback. The helmet always seems to be in his eyes, and always shifts to the left side of his head. It seems to cover up half the side of his ear. The helmet was shaved down last week, but it still is covering his ear and bending it. Could it be that the helmet does not fit right? Thanks so much, all input would be appreciated. I can add photos, if you would like.
Guest guest
When it shifts to the left, does the point in the middle of forehead move so that it is dramatically off center? I was told the point on the forehead could be off center of the nose, but not as far as the middle of an eye. If it's not that off center, I think the fit is fine. It might be that they just need to shave a little more off the ear and/or forehead. They don't like to shave too much off at once, better to shave too little than too much. So hopefully that is all it is. They should have the head mold tomorrow, so you can really compare to where you started. Sometimes it's hard to remember. Definitely bring up your concerns though and let us know how it goes. Good luck! Guest guest
Thank you so much for writing back. The point moves a bit, but not as far as the middle of the eye. I guess my son is ok then. Hopefully they will shave some off on the ear tomorrow. > > > > My son is 7 months old, and he was diagnosed with Plagiocephaly and Brachycephaly.
